The Horizon 2020 program is the world’s largest instrument supporting research and innovation, implemented by the European Commission. Under this program, an SME action is specifically designed for SMEs. Instrument for SMEs (SME Instrument).
The SME instrument is targeted at entities from the SME sector that show high potential for growth as well as have an innovative technology, product or service and intend to implement them on the European and global markets:
What does it offer?
The financial support offered in the scope of the instrument is to enable effective commercialization of the solution on the European market, through commercial and technological verification (Phase I), bringing technology to the time when it is ready for implementation (Phase II) and expert care (Phase III). Co-financed projects will also be supported by free coaching offered through the Enterprise Europe Network. The entrepreneur defines the subject within which he submits the application.
Instrument for SMEs Phase I (from an idea to an entry strategy)
50 thousand euro to check if the idea has market entry potential at the European level, not just the regional one.
Instrument for SMEs Phase II (from market entry strategy to market readiness)
0.5 – 2.5 million euro in the amount of 70% of eligible costs for a project lasting from one to two years.
Instrument for SMEs Phase III (preparation for placing on the market)
Coaching service, business support and acceleration, matching with business partners.
